audio input To enter any sound, such as speech, music, and sound effects, into a computer
biometrics the identification of a user based on a physical characteristic, such as a fingerprint, iris, face, voice, or handwriting
digital camera A camera that images rather than recording on film. Once a picture has been taken, it can be downloaded to a computer and then manipulated and printed.
expansion slot (computer) a socket in a microcomputer that will accept a plug-in circuit board
FireWire high-speed serial technology for connecting peripherals to a computer; particularly popular for multimedia peripherals such as digital video camcorders and other high-speed devices like hard disk drives and printers
inkjet printer type of printer that produces images by forcing ink through a tiny nozzle on to the paper; also called ink dispersion printing technology. Most inkjets are not high volume printer so they can't be networked.

plug-and-play technology that allows a hardware component to be attached to a computer so that it is automatically configured by the operating system, without user intervention
pointing device an input device that allows a user to control a pointer on the screen
port (computer science) computer circuit consisting of the hardware and associated circuitry that links one device with another (especially a computer and a hard disk drive or other peripherals)
printer (computer science) an output device that prints the results of data processing
scanner an electronic device that generates a digital representation of an image for data input to a computer
trackball an electronic device consisting of a rotatable ball in a housing
usb Universal serial bus port - allows you to connect different pieces of equipment to the computer
