Algebra properties

Reflexive Property

Number is equal itself A=a

Symmetric Property

"If A = B, then B = A" - 4=2+2 then 2+2=4

Transitive Property

If A = B and B = C, then A = C"

Distributive Property

Distributing the numbers in the parenthesis. To the number outside the parenthesis.

Associative of Addition

(1+2)+4 =1 1(2+4); the sum is the same no matter how you group the addends.

Commutative of Addition

2+4 then 4+2; changing the order of the addends does not change the sum.

Identity Property of Multiplication

Any number multiplied by 1 is itself

A number added to its opposite integer will always equal zero.

Inverse Property of Multiplication

Multiplying a number by the inverse of the number equals 1.
