| channel | when a defender foces the opponent to veer in one direction and maintain that path |
| cradling | moving the arms and wrists to keep the ball in the stick pocket and ready for passing or shooting |
| crease | partial semicircle area in front of each goal. only the goalie is allowed inside the crease |
| decoy cut | a cut intended to move the defender out of a space |
| drop down | a defender's move away from the opponent and toward the goal area to help defend a second player |
| feed | a pass to a player in scoring position |
| mark | to defend one particular player, usually within one arm's and stick's length of that player |
| quick stick | a shot in which an attack player receives a pass and takes a shot all in one motion without cradling |
| slashing | recklessly swinging a stick at or across an opponent |
| sphere | imaginary area surrounding a player |
| warding up | illegal movement of the ball carrier's free arm to deflect the stick |
