Absolute Value

The distance between a number and 0 on a number line. It can be written as |5| = 5 and |-5| = 5.

Addition Property of Equality

Adding the same number to each side of an equation produces an equivalent equation.

Additive Inverse

The opposite of a number.
Example: 8 = -8
