JUDICIAL BRANCH this branch determines if laws are constitutional; Supreme Court
SUPREME COURT judges serve a life term; can declare laws unconstitutional; Chief Justice oversees the impeachment trial of the President by the Senate
CHECKS AND BALANCES each branch has powers to control the other branches; this is to make sure no one branch becomes too powerful
SEPARATION OF POWERS each branch has certain powers or jobs assigned to them by the constitution
