Wen Dan Tang (Warm the Gb dec)
Dx: St/Gb disharmony with phlegm heat obstructing the qi dynamic
Dizzy, vertigo, nausea of vomit, insomnia, dream disturbed sleep with strange dreams, palpitations, anxiety, indeterminate gnawing hunger, seizures accompanied by copious sputum, focal distention of the chest, bitter taste in the mouth, slight thirst, vexation
T: greasy yellow coat
P: rapid and slippery or wiry
Huang Lian Wen Dan Tang (Coptis dec to warm the Gb)
Dx: St/Gb disharmony with phlegm heat obstructing the qi dynamic. More severe phlegm heat
Insomnia, Vexation, Bitter taste in mouth, Restlessness along with palpitation, anxiety, focal distention in the chest, thirst, indeterminate gnawing hunger, seizures accompanied by copious sputum.
T: greasy yellow coat
P: rapid and slippery or wiry
Qing Qi Hua Tan Wan (Clear the Qi and transform phlegm pill)
Dx: internal clumping of phlegm heat in the Lu (representative formula for this pattern)
coughing of yellow, viscous sputum that is difficult to expectorate/can't fully be expectorated, focal distention and a feeling of fullness in the chest and diaphragm, nausea. In severe cases may also be difficulty breathing, scanty dark urine.
T: red body with a greasy yellow coat
P: slippery rapid
Xiao Xian Xiong Tang (Minor sinking into the chest dec)
Dx: clumping in the chest "Xiong Jie" (caused by the sinking of pathogenic heat into the chest and epigastrium where it mixes with phlegm and forms clumps, obstructing the qi)
Focal distention (w/ or w/o nodules) in the chest and epigastrium that are painful when pressed, coughing up viscous yellow sputum, Constipation, Bitter Taste in the mouth.

P: Slippery and floating or Rapid
