 Applied Research | research that is directed toward a practical goal or application, research undertaken to solve a specific problem |

| Dependent Variable | in an experiment, the variable whose value depends on the independent variable |

| Theory | an explanation supported by many experiments; still subject to new data and can be modified |
| Weight | a measure of the amount of matter and also the effect of Earth's gravitational pull on the matter |
