Modeled after War Finance Corp of WWI, the agency gave 2 billion to aid state and local govts. and made loans to banks, railroads, mortgage associations and other businesses. Most loans were repaid.
"Priming the pump" Action taken to stimulate an economy through govt spending, and interest rate and tax reductions.
"rugged individualism" Classical American motto and course of action to show a person is their own person.
Farm Holiday Association Movement of midwestern US farmers endorsing a farmer's strike. Farmers countered by sheriffs, militia, and vigilante groups.
"Bonus Army" WWI vets on strike forcible removed by military and police forces.
Stimson Doctrine Policy of US govt of non-recognition of international territorial changes that were executed by force.
