bills of attainder laws that punish a person without a jury trial (NOT ALLOWED)
ex-post facto laws A law which punishes people for a crime that was not a crime when it was committed. Congress cannot pass these laws.
due process of law denies the government the right, without due process, to deprive people of life, liberty, and property
