Axial Skeleton the part of the skeleton that includes the skull and spinal column and sternum and ribs
Appendicular Skeleton the part of the skeleton that includes the pectoral girdle and the pelvic girdle and the upper and lower limbs
Compact Bone The hard outer layer of bones
Spongy Bone The dense, semirigid, porous part of the interiour of a bone
Epiphysis the end of a long bone
Diaphysis the main (mid) section of a long bone
Periostium membraine that surronds bone
Red Bone Marrow functions to form red blood cells, some white blood cells, and platelets; found in cavities of most bones in infants and in the flat bones in adults

Diarthrosis Joints movable joints that allow the body to have a wide range of movement and activity

Tendons tissue that connects muscle to bone
Synovial Fluid A lubricating, nourishing fluid found in joints
Smooth Muscle involuntary muscle found in internal organs
Cardiac Muscle the muscle tissue of the heart
Skeletal Muscle Vouluntary, striated muscle that moves bones, works in pairs and is attatched to bones by tendons
