India's problems with water
Lack of access to clean water. 80% don't have access to sanitatio nfacilities. Water is polluted by human waste, chemical run-off. People lose their crops and homes.
What does India do to control extremes of water amount?
Change course of rivers, reroute water for irrigation, control flooding by holding water in reserve for droughts
Trap silt that would otherwise enrich soil. Reservoirs trap bacteria. Building of dam usually floods surrounding areas, displacing villages, disturbing balance.

Local: Food for residents. Indian Gov't want to build process plants to encourage deep-sea fishing.

South Asia, Pakistan ++. India has many outsourced jobs.
