| domain | part of the relation; all of the inputs |
| range | part of the relation, all of the outputs |
| input | the "x" in a coordinate pair |
| output | the "y" in a coordinate pair |
| function | when a relation consists of only one output for each input (if the "x's" don't repeat in a relation, then it IS a function!) |
| vertical line test | If you graph a relation and at least two of the points form a vertical line, the relation is NOT a function. |
| mapping diagram | A test to see if a relation is a function. Match up your inputs and outputs. Do not write the same digit twice! |
