Alliteration

when the first sound in a word is repeated in the line or stanza

Onomatopoeia

when a word sounds like the sound it represents

Assonance

repeated vowel sound (often makes near rhyme) lake, fate, base, fade

Consonance

similar to alliteration EXCEPT the repeated consonant can be anywhere in the word, not just at the beginning

Refrain

sound, word, phrase or line repeated in a poem
