Objective - well-defined scoring system, eliminates any teacher bias
o Tests (multiple choice, true/false), pedometer or heart rate readings, times or counted events (fitness testing)
Subjective No standardized scoring system, teacher judgment determines score
o Essay exams, quality of skill performance, grade for a project
Formative - occurs during a lesson or throughout a unit
