Deviance: how far a behavior or emotion strays from social norms; unusual or disturbing enough to be in violation of social norms; not very concrete

Fugue reaction a dissociative disorder; sudden loss of memory and possibly the assumption of an entirely new identity
Dissociative amnesia sudden loss of memory about personal information, but the person does not leave home/assume new identity
Dissociative identity disorder multiple personality disorder; appears to have more than one identity; each personality with its own memories, wishes, impulses
Affective disorder condition in which a person experiences extreme moods, such as depression or mania
Bipolar I manic episodes may alternate with periods of deep depression with possible periods of relative normalcy
Bipolar II less severe manic phases with episodes of major depression
Hypomania less severe manic episodes than seen in bipolar I
Cyclothymic disorder slightly more common than bipolar disorder; involves episodes of depression and mania, less extreme than bipolar
5 subtypes of schizophrenia Paranoid, disorganized, catatonic, undifferentiated, residual
