Dissociative amnesia | sudden loss of memory about personal information, but the person does not leave home/assume new identity |
Dissociative identity disorder | multiple personality disorder; appears to have more than one identity; each personality with its own memories, wishes, impulses |
Affective disorder | condition in which a person experiences extreme moods, such as depression or mania |
Bipolar I | manic episodes may alternate with periods of deep depression with possible periods of relative normalcy |
Bipolar II | less severe manic phases with episodes of major depression |
Hypomania | less severe manic episodes than seen in bipolar I |
Cyclothymic disorder | slightly more common than bipolar disorder; involves episodes of depression and mania, less extreme than bipolar |
