Name another tactic used. Attrition (Lowering the enemy's supply of resources and force) Also gives physcological edge over enemy (lowers morale and confidence)

Why was the war STATIC? Because of trenches
Why was there stalemate? Because neither side wanted to give up
Some conditions the soilders fought in were: Cold (caused pneumonia)
Rain/wet (caused trenches to become dirty+muddy; spread diseases;created marshes)
Unsanitary conditions
People were encouraged to fight through... Propoganda (which created guilt feelings if they didn't enlist)
Conscript (came in later (in Britain,people aged 18-40 had to enlist))
