noun
Person, place or thing. Whatever exists.
pronounsA noun that stands for another noun: we, they, mine, hers, each, myself, which, that, another, etc...
adjective
describes, qualifies, or tells something about another word.
verb
Verbs express action or a state of being.
adverb
An adverb can modify verbs, adverbs and adjectives. An adverb tells where, when, how, or how much. Example: Slowly, very or too.
preposition
The preposition is a word placed in front of a noun, "pre-posed". Example: FOR a ride, INTO the river, OFF the top, WITH pleasure.
conjunction
Joins words phrases or clauses. They are: and, but, or, nor, for and so.
subordinating conjunctions
join a clause that has to be joined with a main clause. Example: My friends ate dinner, AFTER I LEFT.
interjection
Wow! Ouch! Um, ah, well, gee.
predicate
must contain a verb. Example: Fido IS A DOG.
