The Townshend Acts
1767. named for Prime Minister Charles Townshend All items produced in Britain were to be taxed at American ports, causing price inflation. Am. Board of Customs est. to prevent smuggling.
The Boston Tea Party
People wanted the tea to be sent back to England because of the tax on the tea, colonists dressed as Indians and threw 342 chests of tea into the bay, Caused the intolerable acts
The Sugar Act
The British set taxes on the Colonists, they had to pay taxes on goods such as sugar. Effect: The Americans were mad at the British because they had to pay for a lot of taxes, and they protested by boycotting the British goods.
The Intolerable Acts
Created to punish Massachusetts colonists for the Boston Tea Party. These restrictions led to more anger towards Great Britain. It consisted of the Port Bill, the Quartering Act, limits on town meetings, and British officials being tried in Great Britain for crimes committed in the colonies.
The First Continental congress
(1774) Delegates form 12 Colonies sent representatives to Philadelphia to decide on action, if any, against Britain should be taken.
The Boston Massacre
Shooting of five Bostonians by British soldiers on March 5, 1770 when colonists were protesting the Townshend Acts. It was the first time force was used to stop the colonists, and the colonists' anger increased a lot.

A war between British and the French and Indians which went on for 7 years until 1759 when the british got Canada and signed a treaty to end the war.
