Phosphorylase Kinase | Part of the signal cascade involved in glycogen degredation. Is phosphorylated by Protein Kinase A. Activates Phosphorylase b to Phosphorylase a. |
Phosphorylase b | Inactive form, found primarily in muscle in it's T state. |
Phosphorylase a | Active form, found primarily in the liver in its R state. |
Phosphorylase | Phosphorylates glycogen which releases Glucose 1-Phosphate. |
Glucose 6-Phosphatase | Gluconeogenic enzyme involved in dephosphorylating glucose 6-phosphate to glucose. Important in regulating blood sugar. |
Phosphoglucomutase | Converts Glucose 1-Phosphate to Glucose 6-Phosphate to proceed with glycolysis. |
Hers Disease | Phosphorylase deficiency. Results in hepatomegaly and hypoglycemia. |
I Von Gierke Disease | Glucose 6-Phosphatase deficiency, none in the liver. Results in hepatomegaly, hypoglycemia, failure to thrive. Treat with starch and glucose enriched diet. |
