| valley | stretched out groove in the land, usually formed by streams or rivers, begins on hight ground on three sides, usually has lvl. ground of a lower elevaation at the bottom where water course is found |
| ridge | sloping line of high ground contour lines have "U" or "V" shape (closed end point away from high ground) |
| depression | low part in ground/ sinkhole surrounded by higher ground on all sides (is depicted by closed lines w/ hachures pointing inward toward lower ground) |
| concave | slope shown as contour lines that are close together at the top and far apart at the bottom |
| convex | contour lines that are widely spread at the top and close together at the bottom |
