Jose Morelos 1765-1815 Mexican leader in the revolution against Spain.
Miguel Hidalgo 1753-1811 Mexican priest and leader of the Indian and mestizo revolt that started the Mexican War for independence against Spain in 1810.
Porfirio Diaz 1830-1915 Ruled Mexico as a dictator from 1876 until 1911.
Pancho Villa 1877?-1923 Mexican revolutionary who, with Emiliano Zapata, helped overthrow Porfirio Diaz in 1911.
Maximillian 1832-1867 Austrian prince who was made Emperor of Mexico by the French in 1864. Maximillian was overthrown in 1867 after his French soldiers left Mexico.
Gulf Of Mexico A gulf that is connected with the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea. It is bounded by the United States,Mexico,and Cuba.
Baja California A peninsula that is part of northwestern Mexico. It is separated from the rest of Mexico by The Gulf of California.
Gulf of California An arm of the Pacific Ocean that separates Baja California from the rest of Mexico.
Yucatan Peninsula A peninsula that includes southeastern Mexico and parts of Belize and Guatemela. It separates the Gulf of Mexico from the Caribbean Sea.
Western Sierra Madre A mountain range that extends along the Pacific Ocean on the west coast of Mexico.
Eastern Sierra Madre A mountain range that borders the Gulf of Mexico on the east coast of Mexico.
Gulf Coastal Plain The largest lowland area in Mexico. It borders the Gulf of Mexico and includes Yucatan Peninsula.
Central Plateau The high, broad plateau of central Mexico. It lies between the Eastern and Western Sierra Madres.
