- it is a myth! Muscle tissue will always be muscle and fat tissue will always be fat.
Principle of Specificity
which states that placing a specific demand on the body results in a specific adaptation.
Principle of Individuality
holds that no two people react exactly the same way to exercise.
Principle of Overtraining
Overtraining results from violating the principle of overload.Doing "too much" for "too long"
Principle of Overload
When the muscles, including the heart muscle, are overloaded or stressed more than normal amounts, fitness gains occur. When you overload you are temporarily increasing the intensity of an exercise. As your body adapts, a training effect occurs and the exercise becomes easier. To continue to improve your physical fitness, you have to continue to overload. When you reach your desired level of fitness you can stop overloading. To maintain your fitness level, continue to perform your new "normal" amount. Doing less than normal will result in deconditioning.
: is the ability of a muscle, or group of muscles, to exert force against a resistance. The number of pounds you can lift one time is a measure of maximal muscular strength.
is the ability of a muscle, or group of muscles, to apply a submaximal force repeatedly or to sustain a muscular contraction for a period of time.
is the ability to move a joint through its full range of motion
this refers to the relative amounts of lean body mass and fat in your body.
Lean Body Mass
bones, muscles, and connective tissue
subcutaneous fat (the fat deposits stored between the muscles and the skin) and intramuscular fat (the fat stored within the muscles)
You can change your body composition through
a sound diet and exercise program.
Maintaining an ideal body composition reduces the risk of
coronary heart disease, makes you look and feel better, and increases your body's work capacity.
