Definitions

Mechanics The study of the effects of force on an object, and movement caused by that force.
Kinematics The study of motion that focuses on how objects move.
Dynamics The study of motion that focuses on why objects move.
Frame of reference A way to relate the motion of an object, or objects, in relation to a fixed point.
Displacement The movement of an object from one place to another. In physics, it refers to the distance between an object's starting location, and its final, or end location.
Speed The rate at which an object changes position
Average speed The total distance travelled divided by the total time spent travelling.
Velocity The rate at which an object changes position, and the direction that it moves.
Magnitude The size of a quantity, how big it is.
Vector Expresses quantity, and direction.
