| man vs self | Is a conflict that takes place within the mind of a character- the characters struggles to make a decision, take an action, or overcome a feeling like jealousy |

| fantasy | Is a highly imaginative writing that contains elements not found in real life |
| irony | When the opposite of what is said, expected, or thought occurs within a story ( a twist of fate ) |
| motivation | Is a reason behind or explains a character's thoughts, feelings, action, or speech |
| exposition | The introduction, the setting, characters, and basic situation |
| incentive moment | The point in the story where the action begins and the central conflict is introduced |
| rising action | ant event which leads up to the story's climax |
| climax | The high point or turning point of interest or suspence |
| falling action | Any event after the climax |
| first person | The narrator is a character in the story using "I" |
| third person omniscient | The narrator knows and tells about the what each character feels and think |
| third person limited | The narrator relates inner thoughts and feelings of only one character and everything is viewed from this character's perspective |
| resolution | The end or conclusion of the central conflict ( sometimes open-ended ) |
| point of view | Is the perspective, or vantage point, from which a story is told ( technical ) |
| suspense | Is a feeling of anxious uncertainty about the outcome of events or the building up of intrest or excitement as the plot unfolds or develops |
| theme | Is the central message, concern, or purpose in literay work usally exspressing a general statement about human beings or about life; it is not the plot but the central idea that the writer communicates |
