Adam and Eve: First humans on earth. Disobeyed God and created original sin.

David: 2nd king. Great love for the Lord. Wrote most of the Psalms. Coveted Bathsheba.

Esther: Jewish woman adopted by Mordecai after her parents died. Persian king married her/made her the queen. Asked the king to save the Jews from Haman's decree of death. Trusted God.

Ezekiel: Talked about the Messiah as the good shepherd. Told the Israelites that God would look after them as the sheperd looks after his sheep. Had the vision of the dry bones, which gave the exiles hope that God would bring them together again.

Isaiah: In Nazareth, Jesus read from this prophet's scroll to show the people that he was fulfilling the prophecies of the prophets.

JESUS: the Son of God, the Messiah. He is both human and divine. He is true man and true God. Taught us how to pray the Our Father. He taught us how to pray in secret so we can focus on God alone. Tells us that God knows what we need before we tell him.

Job: Holy man who honored God above all else. Many terrible things happened to him. God told him to trust in him. Said, "I was born with nothing; I shall die with nothing. The Lord gave and the lord has taken away."

Naomi: Mother-in-law to Ruth and Orpah. Both of her sons died. Traveled with Ruth.

Peter: Got keys to heaven. First pope. Rock of the church.

Rehoboam: 4th king. Solomon's son who became king. Ignored advice from elders, causing Israel to divide.

Ruth: Remained faithful to her mother-in-law and found food for her in Bethlehem. Married Boaz. Grandmother of David, the king.

Saul: 1st Israelite King. Rejected God and then got rejected as the king.

Second Isaiah: Talked about the Messiah as the suffering servant. Disciple of Isaiah the Prophet who was sent to help the exiled Israelites. Compared the Israelites to sheep who had gone astray. Prophesized about the suffering and death of Jesus.
16.
Solomon: 3rd king. Inherited the throne from his father, David. Asked God for wisdom. Wrote proverbs. Lost his wisdom when he became obsessed with his power and stopped being faithful to God. Built first Temple.
17.
St. John the Baptist: preached in the desert and baptized in the Jordan river. People thought he was the Messiah. Baptized Jesus. "Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand."
18.
St. Lucy: patron saint of people with eye disease, blindness or throat ailments. Was killed by soldiers for being a Christian.
