| 1862 | Minister of War, Albrecht von Roon, called Bismarck back to Berlin from Paris. Bismarck was appointed the Minister President of Prussia. |

| 1879 | Bismarck swings from liberal/free trader to conservative/protectionist, from anti-atholic to pro-Catholic in one year. |

| June 1888 | Wilhelm II becomes Emperor of Germany. |

| April 1895 | Bismarck's 80th birthday created enormous national celebration. |
