The Food Guide Pyramid
a chart that divides foods into 6 groups and tells how much of each kind of food to eat each day
Milk, Yogurt, and Cheese Group
Eat 2- 3 servings each day. This group has many nutrients that your body needs for growth and repair, energy, and working well.
Vegetable Group
Eat 3- 5 servings each day. The food in this group are plants that are not sweet. Most of the nutrients help your body to work as it should.
Bread, Cereal, Rice, and Pasta Group
Eat 6-11 servings each day. Most of the nutrients in this food group gives your body energy.
Fruit Group
Eat 2- 4 servings each day. The foods in this group are low in calories and fat and are a source of natural sugars, fiber and vitamins.
Meat, Poultry, Fish, Dry Beans, Eggs, and Nuts Group
Eat 2- 3 servings each day. This group is a major source of protein. Most of the nutrients in these foods help your body grow and repair itself when needed.
Fats, Oils, and Sweets
Eat very little of these foods. These foods can make a person gain too much body fat. They are not good for your health.
