Xing Su San *

Zi Su Ye Fo. (Perillae Frutescentis)
Qian Hu (Rx. Peucedani)
Xing Ren (Sm. Armenicae)
Jie Geng (Rx. Platycodi)
Zhi Ke (Fr. Aurantii)
Chen Pi (Per. Citri Reticulatae)
Fu Ling (Poria Cocos)
Ban Xia (Rz. Pinelliae)
Sheng Jiang (Rz. Zingiberis)
Da Zao (Fr. Zizyphi Jujubae)
Gan Cao (Rx. Glycyrrhizae)

Function: Releases the exterior to dispel cold dryness, regulates the lung qi and transforms phlegm

Treats: A patient with constitutional phlegm and damp stagnation who has cold dryness attacking the lung which interferes with the lung function of descending fluids.

Sx: NO fever, Headache, no sweating, chills, cough with thin watery sputum, nasal congestion. Pulse is wiry and the tongue has a dry white coating.
Western: Common cold, emphysema, bronchitis.

Function: Clears and dispels heat-dryness
RELEASE WIND HEAT DRYNESS AFTER SUMMER


Treats: Patients that suffer from an exterior attack of heat-dryness which injure the lung causing dry hacking cough.

Sx: MORE FEVER THAN CHILLS, HEADACHE, SORE THROAD, DRY cough or won with scanty, thick, and YELLOW sticky sputum , DIFFICULT TO EXPECTORATE

TONGUE: RED , thin, dry, and white coating,

PULSe: superficial , rapid, thready, wind head dryness

Western: Whooping cough, bronchitis.

Cautions and Contraindications: Do Not use for cough caused by lung yin deficiency.

Mai Men Dong (Rx. Ophiopogonis)
Ban Xia (Rz. Pinelliae)
Ren Shen (Rx. Ginseng)
Geng Mi (Nonglutinous Rice)
Da Zao (Fr. Zizyphi Jujubae)
Gan Cao (Rx. Glycyrrhizae)

Function: Benefits the stomach, generates fluids, and descends rebellious Qi.

Treats: Lung yin deficiency secondary to yin deficiency of the stomach.

Sx: ATROPHY OF LUNG AND STOMACH , YIN DEF, INTERNAL HEAT AND DRYNESS

TONGUE: SMALL, RED, CRACKS
PULSE; RAPID, THREADY

Western: Chronic bronchitis, tuberculosis, peptic ulcer and gastritis.

Cautions and Contraindications: Do not use for lung deficiency due to cold. Do no use in exterior disorders.
