the study of tumors and cancer

Hematologic cancers

originate in the bone marrow, lymphatic system and other cells dealing with the blood and immune system.

Non-hematologic cancers

originate in solid tissues other than the bone amrrow, lymphatic system, and others cells dealing with the blood and immune system.

Tumor (neoplasm)

mass or swelling produced by adnormal cell growth and division.

Benign tumor

tumor that seldomly threatens an person's life and be surgically removed.

Malignant tumor

can no longer respond to normal control mechanisms.
