OSPF Open Shortest Path First. A link-state protocol used on interior or border routers. Best path is the most direct path between two points.
RIP Routing Information Protocol. It only factors in the number of hops between nodes.
RIPv2 Routing Information Protocol version 2. Generates less broadcast traffic and is more secure, but it cannot exceed 15 hops.
SAP Session Announcement Protocol. An experimental protocol for broadcasting multicast session information.
