Terms	Definitions
penalty	n. Punishment for a crime or breaking a rule.
taper	v. To get more and more narrow (thin) at one end.
dial	n. A display with a movable pointer, like in a clock.
trial	n. When you use a court of law to find out of someone is guilty or innocent; also an event in sports to test how good you are before the main event.
final	adj. Last in order; not allowing any more change or argument; the last event in a sporting contest.
vital	adj. Very, very important or necessary.
rival	n. A person or group that competes or plays against another.
vial	n. A small glass bottle, usually used to hold medicines.
local	adj. In the nearby area, like a school or a park.
focal	adj. Main or most important.
