DIVISION _______ / _______ = _______ ? | DIVIDEND / DIVISOR = QUOTIENT |
Can you divide by zero? Yes or No? | No |
Can you divide zero by a nonzero number? | Yes |
What are Whole Numbers? | 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5,... |
What are Prime Numbers? | A Prime Number cannot be divided evenly by any number (except 1 or itself). |
What are Composite Numbers? | A Composite Number can be divided evenly by numbers other than 1 or itself. |
0 and 1. Are they Prime or Composite? | Neither |
What are Positive and Negative Integers? | Positive integers are all the whole numbers greater than zero: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, ... . Negative integers are all the opposites of these whole numbers: -1, -2, -3, -4, -5, |
What are Even Integers? | Even integers are integers that can be divided evenly by 2, for example, -4, -2, 0, 2, 4, ... An even integer always ends in 0, 2, 4, 6, or 8. |
What are Odd Integers? | An odd integer always ends in 1, 3, 5, 7, or 9 |
What are Rational Numbers? | A rational number is a number that can be written as a simple fraction |
Fraction - Which is the Denominator? | The bottom part of a fraction. For 3/4 the denominator is 4. |
Fraction - Which is the Numerator? | The top part of a fraction. For 3/4 the Numerator is 3. |
What are Equivalent Fractions? | They are fractions that have the same overall value. Ex: 3/4 = 9/12 |
What are Prime Factors? | "Prime Factorization" is finding which prime numbers you need to multiply together to get the original number. Ex: 12 = 2 × 2 × 3 |
What are Decimals? | Rational numbers written using base-10 place-value system. Each digit has a face and place value. |
How do you convert a Fraction into a Decimal? | Divide the Numerator by the Denominator. Ex: 3/5 = 0.6 |
How do you convert Percentage? | 50% = 50/100 = 1/2, 1% = 1/100, 125% = 125/100 = 1 1/4 |
More examples of Percents: | 25% = 0.25, 32% = 0.32, 45.5% = 0.455, 8% = 0.08 |
What are Irrational Numbers? | An Irrational Number is a real number that cannot be written as a simple fraction. Ex: Square Root of 2, 3, 24, 10, 41 |
What are Real Numbers? | All numbers on the number line. This includes (but is not limited to) positives and negatives, integers and rational & irrational numbers, square roots, cube roots , π (pi), etc. |
What is a Decimal Number that terminates? | A Rational Number |
What are Exponential Notations? | It simplifies numbers by getting rid of zeros. 3x3x3x3 = 3 to the 4th power: 3^4. 3x3x3x3=81 |
What are Scientific Notations? | Scientific notation is simply a method for expressing, and working with, very large or very small numbers. It is a short hand method for writing numbers. |
More examples of Scientific Notations: | 34,000 = 3.4 x 10^4, 0.00047 = 4.7 x 10^-4 |
