Work force acting through a distance
Power rate at which work is done, or the amount of work per unit of time.
Watt The unit of power
Machine An instrument that makes work easier
Work Input The work that goes into the machine.
Work Output The work done by the machine.
Efficiency The comparison of work output to work input.
Mechanical Advantage The number of times a machine multiplies the effort force.
Inclined Plane An example is a ramp.
Wedge an inclined plane that moves.
Screw An inclined plane wrapped around a central bar.
Lever a rigid bar that is free to pivot, or move about a fixed point.
Fulcrum The fixed or pivotal point on a lever.
Pulley a rope, belt, or chain wrapped around a grooved wheel.
Wheel and Axle Simple machine made up of two circular objects.
Compound Machine A combination made up of two or more simple machines.
