Dot map A thematic map in which a dot represents some frequency of the mapped variable
Distance distortion When the distance from one place to another appears longer or shorter than what it actually is.
Shape distortion When the shape of a country is drawn incorrectly since real and precise shape of a globe cannot be represented on a 2D surface.
Relative size distortion When the size of a place appears larger or smaller than what is actually is.
Direction distortion When direction is distorted since real and precise shape of a globe cannot be represented on a 2D surface.
GIS A geographic information system that can capture, store, query, analyze and display geographic information.
GPS A global positioning system that accurately determines the precise position of a place.
Globalization How the world is getting smaller through technology, trade and commerce.
Regional diversity How the world remains large and diverse because of the variations within our societies and culture.
