Popular Media informational materials that share information with the general public (ex. newspaper, magazines, online information)
Nameplate a newspaper's name printed largely and in a special font; found near the top of the front page
Section the different topics a newspaper is divided into (ex. sports, business, local, etc.)
Headline the title given to a story
Byline name of the reporter of the article; appears above the article and below the headline
Dateline the name of the place where the news event happened; often will include the actual date as well
Lead the beginning of the article; answers the who, what, when, why, and how of a story (5W & H)
Cut photo or illustration that goes along with a story
Cutline Caption describing the photo or illustration.
Photo Credit a reference to the source of the photo
Jumpline line telling the reader where the story is continued (ex. Go to A5; Continued on C8
