Stromal cells Cells that provide structure or support for parenchymal cells
Parenchymal cells that provide the actual function of the tissue
Labile cells Cells that undergo mitosis regularly and quickly
Stable cells Cells that do not regularly undergo mitosis but are able to if the need arises
Permanent cells Cells that cannot undergo mitosis
Extracellular matrix The chemical substances located between connective tissue cells
Four types of tissues Epithelial, Connective, Muscle, Nervous
basement membrane The structure that attaches most epithelia to underlying tissue; consists of carbohydrates and proteins secreted by the epithelia and the underlying connective tissue.
Four types of connective tissue Connective tissue proper, cartilage, bone, blood
Collagen Structural protein found in skin and connective tissue
Four types of connective tissue loose connective, adipose, dense irregular connective, dense regular connective
Four types of tissues Epithelial, connective, muscular, nervous
ground substance found in the extracellular matrix, it contains protein fibers secretes by the cell.
