| Qualitative Data | tells how it looks, basic information (subject has blue eyes, etc.) |

| Evidence | collected body of data from observations and experiments |
| Dependent Variable | variables that are observed to change in response to the independent variables (Effect) |
| Independent Variable | variables that are deliberately manipulated to invoke a change in the dependent variables (Cause) |
| Control | nothing is done to it, used only to show comparison |
| Controlled Experiment | experiment that tests the effect of a one variable at a time |
| Inference | logical conclusion based on observations |
| Conclusion | the result or outcome of an experiment or process |
