direct object (DO) → (DO) → answers "what"
I ate the salad (the salad is DO)
Je mange la salade (la salade is DO)

(IDO) → answers "to what or to whom"
she talks to her friend (to her friend is IDO)
elle parle à son amie (à son amie is IDO)
look for preposition before the object

(DOP) → stands in for the direct object,
Ann is at the bank. I see Ann.
Ann is at the bank. I see her ( her =DOP)
indirect object (IDO) → (IDO) → answers "to what" "to whom"
she lent her care to her friend
Elle a prête sa voiture à son amie
How to tell if person/thing is:
direct object (DO),indirect object(IDO)
Look for a preposition
if preposition before person/thing then → IDO
if no preposition before person/thing → DO
Direct Object Pronouns (DOP) → me / m'..→ me
te / t'..... → you
le / l'..... → him, it
la / l'.... → her, it
nous... → us
vous.... → you
les........ → them
French (DOP) are placed → in front of the verb.
example → Je le mange (I eat it)
DOP for me → me / m'
Tu m'aimes (you love me)
DOP for you → te / t'
Je t'aime (I love you)
DOP for him / it → le / l'
Je le mange (I eat it)
DOP for her / it → la / l'
il la voit (He sees her)
DOP for us → nous
tu nous attends (you wait for us)
DOP for you (p) → vous
Je vous regarde (I wait for y'all)
DOP for them (m,f) → les
Ils les attendent (they wait for them)
