Jose Urrea | Jose Urrea led his men toward Goliad defeating two groups of Texan soldiers. Urrea got orders from Sant Anna to kill all his captives at Goliad. He did so leading his men into what's now called the Goliad Massacre. (Goliad) |
David Crockett | Davy Crockett was a legend from Tennessee. He led twelve men from Tennessee to come fight in the Alamo. He gave some of the young soldiers inspiration. He was killed March 5th 1836. (Alamo) |
James Bowie | Volunteer General James Bowie came with direct orders from Sam Houston to destroy the Alamo becasue it gave no strategic advantage. He later became sick with Typhloid Pnemonia and did not fight but stayed within the fortress. He was killed on his sickbed March 5th 1836. (Alamo) |
Sam Houston | Sam Houston was the General of the texan army. He led them in the battle of San Jacinto and the capture of Santa Anna. He forced Santa Anna to sign the Treaty of Velasco in exchange for his life. In doing so Mexico gave up all rights to Texas. He suffered A musket ball to the ankle in battle. (San Jacinto) |
James Fannin | Fannin led the Texans at goliad and was captured he and his 400 men were brutally muttered in the Goliad Massacre by Jose Urrea and his troops. He died March 27th 1836 (Goliad) |
Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna | Santa Anna was the Mexican President, Dictator, and General. Santa Anna led the mexicans in the Alamo. He was captured by the Texans in the Battle of San Jacinto. Sam Houston made him sign the Treaty of Velasco in exchange for his life. (Alamo & San Jacinto) |
Martin Perfecto de Cos | Martin Perfecto de Cos was Santa Anna's brother in law. Cos was attacked by a group of 25 texans and was forced to retreat. He went to the mexican base the alamo and gave the belonging to the Texans so he could retreat all the way to Mexico. Santa Anna felt embarrased and and had to clean up his mess (Siege of Bexar) |
William Barrett Travis | William Barrett Travis was assinged comand of the militia when an old officer dropped out of duty. When James Bowie became ill he took over all command of the Alamo. William sent out a request for more troops saying he will fight till Victory or Death. He died March 5th 1836. (Alamo) |
George C. Childress | George C. Childress was an ex-Tennessee newspaper editor. He was chosen to write the Texas Declaration of Independence. (None) |
Juan Seguin | Juan Seguin was going to serve with the Tejanos in the Alamo, William Barrett Travis sent him out to give a message to Sam Houston requesting more troops. When he went to Houston's camp Houston made him stay and gather up Tejanos for the Battle of San Jacinto. He fought as the flank with his troops in the battle of San Jacinto. (San Jacinto) |
