these are the bill of rights plus a few of the most important amendments (for finals).

1st amendment

freedom of religion, speech, the press, and the right to peacefully assemble and petition the govt for something

2nd amendment

right to bear arms

4th amendment

no unreasonable search or seizure

5th amendment

(before trial) no double jeopardy, you don't have to testify against yourself

6th amendment

(at trial) you get a fair, public, and recent trial by jury where the crime was committed, a lawyer, knowledge of what you're accused of and who accused you

8th amendment

no excessive bail or cruel and unusual punishment

9th amendment

even if the right is not listed, you still have it

10th amendment

powers not given to the federal govt are given to the states

13th amendment

abolition of slavery

14th amendment

equal protection of the laws

15th amendment

black suffrage

19th amendment

women's suffrage

26th amendment

18 year-old suffrage
