READ THIS: ITS BRIANS RANT/DISCUSSION

How the heck are we supposed to get definitions in context if she doesn't even put the words in a logical order.
its basically impossible (hours upon hours of pointless work), to find 300 random vocab words in a 50 page packet.

even if we split the words up over the entire class, finding 10 words each would still be annoying.

but do-able.

so, 3 options:

1. we split up the work, among all 20 french students, and each person only has to find 6-7 words in context.

2. someone finds all of them

3. everybody finds all of them for themselves

4. we say "screw this" and complain on tuesday

i kinda like #4, but then again, I am the "big baby" around here.

and, as far as i know, she took these 300 words from all 15 chapters, since she said there were 20 per chapter, and these were all the vocab words for the whole book.

so it IS actually impossible to find them all in context, since half of them are in parts of the book we don't have.

ok, rant done.

btaller8 : and the reason i'm going chronological, and including the ones lea defined, is so that we can be sure we do not miss any in the shuffle. doing the "1st 30 already defined words, and the 2nd 30..." could result in confusion, maybe. haha
btaller8 : and this way i get to input them all and get more practice
WillMullaney : my bad
WillMullaney : i didn't see you were doing it...
LaFontaine : I believe that the words below number 15 are meant to serve as a description of a morane which we do not have to know, mais il vaut mieux que nous les sachions just in case.
LaFontaine : Do you really think there are words from the other part of part 1? It would explain why my list is missing many of these words. I do not think that there is any practical way to find all the words in context. So I say we make the list as good as possible and study off of it and hope that the definitions are right. I guess that is essential Brian's fourth option.
btaller8 : haha yes. and i believe there are words from part 2 as well perhaps
btaller8 : Changed wood, forest → une futaie to a wood, forest → une futaie
btaller8 : Changed edge, border of field, forest → la lisière to the edge, border of field, forest → la lisière
btaller8 : Changed liquor cabinet → le coffret à liqueurs to the liquor cabinet → le coffret à liqueurs
WillMullaney : Changed les guenilles → rags (en) = in tatters to les guenilles → the rags (en) = in tatters
WillMullaney : Changed un hameau → Hamlet to un hameau → a hamlet
WillMullaney : Changed leur job (i can't really read this, but leur job doesn't really make sense to be a vocab word) → their job to leur job? → their job?
WillMullaney : Changed le taillis → copse, brushwood to le taillis → the copse, brushwood
WillMullaney : Changed la pension → (boarding school) room and board to la pension → the (boarding school) room and board
WillMullaney : Changed la chevelure → head of hair to la chevelure → the head of hair
WillMullaney : Changed les guenilles → the rags (en) = in tatters to les guenilles → the rags (en = in tatters)
WillMullaney : Changed la clairière → clearing to la clairière → the clearing
LaFontaine : Well if there are words from the rest of the book we will be prepared when we get there.
btaller8 : what a great way to think about it
btaller8 : hahaha
WillMullaney : Changed les guenilles (en guenilles) → the rags (in tatters) to les guenilles (en guenilles) (f) → the rags (in tatters) (g)
jalenack : wow just this one took hella long
FunSize : ugh i know right
btaller8 : holy, this set has a few thousand scores on it, i imagine
btaller8 : i added the feminine ending to guerrier
Jenkins : Changed to shudder (w/fear) to leap (w/joy) → tressaillir to to shudder (w/fear), to leap (w/joy) → tressaillir
LaFontaine : "le monde entier tressaille d'espérence"
