LaFontaine : osseuse(osseux)means bony not honey. Mrs. Selvin spelled it with an e and a b that looks more like an h, so the confusion is very understandable. je le changerai.
btaller8 : good good. i'm sure there are lots of misreading errors, her handwriting is hard
btaller8 : thats why we're gonna bring in all 300 words for her to see
btaller8 : so she can also verify we read her writing correctly
btaller8 : unless someone wants to look up all 160 defined words
btaller8 : *170, and see that i interpreted them correctly
btaller8 : Changed intoxicated, inebriated, to freeze → enivré (e, s) to intoxicated, inebriated, (frozen? not in dictionary. and selvin said "to freeze") → enivré (e, s)
LaFontaine : My dictionary has enivrer as "v. tr. To intoxicate. 1. to inebriate; to make (s.o.) drunk. 2. F: To elate"
LaFontaine : Plus it has s'enivrer as "to become intoxicated, inebriated (de, wit); to get drunk.
LaFontaine : Plus, from personal experience I have learned that ivre means drunk.
LaFontaine : So I have no idea how she could have gotten to freeze, but I am almost certain that it is wrong.
LaFontaine : Did you know that according to Islamic beliefs Houri is one of the beautiful virgins who await faithful Muslims in paradise.
LaFontaine : You wrote dénunder instead of dénuder. I fixed it.
KevinFace : Changed Terror, Fear, Dread → l'effroi to l'effroi → the Terror, Fear, Dread
KevinFace : Changed échevelé → disheveled (person), tousled (hair) to échevelé (e, s) → disheveled (person), tousled (hair)
WillMullaney : Changed osseuse → bony to osseuse → bony (f)
WillMullaney : Changed lourdeur → thickness (dictionary says: heaviness) to la lourdeur → the thickness (dictionary says: heaviness)
WillMullaney : Changed l'affût → hiding place to l'affût (m) → hiding place (g)
WillMullaney : Changed l'effroi → the terror, fear, dread to l'effroi (m) → the terror, fear, dread (g)
WillMullaney : Changed squameuse → scaly to squameuse → scaly (f)
Jenkins : Changed l'affût (m) → hiding place (g) to l'affût (m) → the hiding place (g)
btaller8 : yes gregory, you were quite right about enivrer not being about freezing. haha. selvin was appalled that we dared to put it there. hahah. lets blame lise! its perfectly understandable though, enivrer is right below se figer. selvins handwriting was probably all over the place.
btaller8 : and no lise, we're not blaming you, i was kidding
btaller8 : Changed hardes de → heads of (elephants), bevy to hardes de → herds of (elephants), bevy (I Believe this is "herds" not "heads")
LaFontaine : In the context of the book heurté refers to colors; he uses it when he is talking about the colors of the African women's clothing in chapter 8. So I would pay attention to "contrasting" as the definition.
btaller8 : you have an amazing memory
LaFontaine : Thank you. At our class reunion fifty years from now I'll remind you that you said that.
Jenkins : Changed abrupt, halting, (contrasting (colors)) → heurté (e, s) to abrupt, halting (contrasting (colors)) → heurté (e, s)
KevinFace : Changed some surveys, cadastres (g.) → des cadastres (m.) to des cadastres (m) → some surveys, cadastres (g)
jalenack : Changed to track, to trail → pister to to track, trail → pister
jalenack : Changed to startle, to scare away, to frighten away (animal) → effaroucher to to startle, scare away, frighten away (animal) → effaroucher
