landform A physical feature of the earth's surface.
weathering The process of wind, water, temperature changes, and other factors breaking down rock into soil and tiny pieces.
erosion The process of wearing away or moving of soil, rock, and sand by water, wind, and ice.
deposition The process of dropping or depositing sediment in a new location. :)
sedimentation The process of particles clumping together and settling to the bottom of a body of water.
mountains A type of landform in which the earth's surface rises to a tall peak; usually , taller than 2,000 ft.
valley A long, low area of land between hills or ranges of mountains.
canyon A steep-walled valley created by a river or steam.
plain A large, flat area of land with few trees.
glacier A large body of year round ice and snow that moves across the land and deposits sediment where it melts.
plateau A large area of flat land that is higher than the surrounding land.
river A large natural stream that flows into a larger body of water
reservior A man-made storage area for fresh water.
delta A deposit of sediment where a stream enters a larger, calmer body of water
tributary A stream or river that feeds into a larger body of water.
source The beginning of a stream or river.
flow To move or pass along evenly in a stream.
mouth The part of a river that empties into another body of water.
slope Land that is on an incline.
flood plain The low-lying land near a stream or river that is covered by water during heavy rainfall or spring melting.
meander A bend or sweeping curve in a stream or river.
ox-bow lake A bow shaped lake formed by the erosion on a meandering stream or river.
ground cover Trees, shrubs, grasses, and liter that hold the soil in place.
watershed An area of land that is drained by a common systems of streams.
uplifting The process in which the earth's crust raises to form mountains. It begins when heat from the center of the earth rises and pushes the ground up.
