seam guide used as a guide to the the seams straight and even.
feed dog moves the fabric through the machine durring stiching
presser foot when in the lower position, holds the fabric in place as the machine stitches
needle clamp holds the machine needle in place
thread guide guides the thread correctly through the machine when sewing
take up lever takes up the slack in the thread between machine stiches
thread tension adjusting wheel used to control the amount of tension applied to the thread so it feeds at a constant rate. if tension is too tight the seams wil pucker; if too loose the seams will pull apart
stich selector determines the type of machine stitch
thread spool holder holds the spool of thread while sewing
bobbin winder holds both the bobbin when winding thread from the spool onto the bobbin
handwheel controls the up and down movment of the machine needle
stitch width knob adjusts the width of two-dimensional stitches such as a zigzag wave, or overlock stitches
needle position knob used to set the needle in a left, center, or right
stitch length knob controls the number of stitches per inch.
bobbins are small round spools made of metal or plastic. these are used to hold the bobbin tread which will appear on the underside of the fabric after stitching
bobbin case is located under the needle plate. it holds the bobbin and had adjustable tension for the bobbin thread
needle thread is placed throught the eye of the needle through the front. the needle takes the thread down through the needle plate to from stitches
thread spool holder holds the spool of thread while you stitch, and allows the thread to feed evenly
presser foot lever raises and lowers the presser foot into position
