| Salvation | To be rescued from evil. Simeon said he had seen this because the Messiah would rescue the world from evil. Jesus would bring it to everyone. |
| Scripture | Another word for the Holy Bible a group of sixty-six books written over a period of more than a thousand years by many different men who were inspired by God. They are also called the Holy Bible. |
| Wise Men | A term referring to the men who followed the star from the East to find the King of the Jews. |
| King of the Jews | A title for the Messiah. |
| Magi | A term referring to the men who followed the star from the East to find the King of the Jews. They are also called "wise men." |
| Worship | When people give honour to God; they pray and sing his praises. |
| King Herod | He built the great Jerusalem temple. He also killed the little boys in Bethlehem when he was trying to kill the new king of the Jews (Jesus). |

| Gold | A precious and costly metal. It was brought as a gift for the child Jesus. It was also used in God's temple. |

| Bethlehem | It is best known as the birthplace of both David and Jesus. It is five miles from Jerusalem. |
| Caesar Augustus | Roman ruler. All of Israel was under his authority at the time Jesus was born. |
| manger | A feeding trough for animals. |
| Town of David | King David was a famous king of Israel who lived long before Jesus. He was born and grew up in Bethlehem, so Bethlehem became known as this town. |
| Gabriel | the angel who was sent to Zechariah to tell him that his wife, Elizabeth, would give birth to John the Baptist. |
| Elizabeth | The wife of Zechariah the priest, She gave birth to John the Baptist in her old age. |
| Galilee | The place in Israel where Jesus grew up |

| Herod's Temple | In Jerusalem was a massive expansion of the Temple Mount along with a completely new and much larger Temple. Herod the Great's expansion project began around 19 BCE. |
| Isaiah | One of the Old Testament prophets who prophesied about the coming of the Messiah. |
| Jerusalem | It is situated thirty-three miles east of the Mediterranean Sea and fourteen miles west of the Dead Sea. According to God's Word, it is the most important city on earth. It was the capital city of the only kingdom God has set up on earth. |
| Lord | A name that we call God or Jesus, when we obey them and shows us that he is greater than anyone else |
| Nazareth | A town in lower Galilee, it was the hometown of Mary and Joseph, the human parents of Jesus. Jesus grew up there. |
| Prophet | A person who can tell other people what God wants. People God chose to tell his message to others. |
| Virgin | A person who has never had sex with another person. |
| Astrology | The study of the positions and aspects of celestial bodies in the belief that they have an influence on the course of natural earthly occurrences and human affairs. |
