Sales People in this department deal with Customer Complaints, send out catalogues and attempt to improve profits
Finance People in this department calculate profits, wages and deal with any money issues
Lateral Relationship This is the relationship and employee has with someone on the same level of management as them in a company
Accountability This is when an employee has to explain their actions to Management
Flat This is the type of organisation structure where there are few levels of management with many employees reporting to the one manager
Tall This is the type of organisation structure where the are many levels of management with managers having small spans of control
Span of Control This is the number of people who directly report to a manager
Human Resources This is the department that deal with employee issues such as disciplining staff, recruitment and appraisals
Purchasing This department buys in goods for the company and manages stock levels
Chain of Command This is the way that instructions are passed down through a company
Authority This is where as a manager you have the right to tell an employee what to do
Downsize This is a type of restructuring where the business is selling less products and has to reduce the number of employess
Delayer This is a type of restructuing where the business has to remove a level of management to improve communication or reduce staffing costs
Outsource This is where a company pays another company to provide a service, for example managing the ICT function
Delegate This is where you give another member of staff the responsibility to complete a task normally completed by yourself
Job Description This document outlines basic information about a job, for example, the salary, working hours, duties to be completed
Person Specification This document outlines the main qualities, qualifications, experience required to complete a job.
Invoice This document is sent along with goods, giving the purchaser a list of the items purchased along with their price
Credit Note When goods are returned to a supplier, the supplier may send this document rather than giving back cash
Marketing This department carries out Customer Research and is involved in product development
