Pullman Strike

1892-workers strike to stop making Pullman cars. American Railway Union won't touch cars, railroads shut down

Homestead Strike

Homestead, PA, Carnegie tried to replace steelworkers with machinery for larger profit. Collective bargaining costing compaines too much, most of community defended the union

Wounded Knee Massacre

US troops surrounded the Sioux and had orders to move them. The last major armed conflict between the Americans and the Indians

Sand Creek Massacre

an attack on a village of sleeping Cheyenne Indians by a regiment of Colorado militiamen on 29 November 1864 that resulted in the death of more than 200 tribal members

Panic of 1893

time where economy slumped, less railroads built, jobs lost

Coxey's Army

unemployed workers marched from Ohio to Washington to draw attention to the plight of workers and to ask for goverment relief

Great Upheavel of 1886

a bunch of strikes and riots which destroyed the public support for the labor unions
