macromolecules

the four types of these are: carbohydrates, proteins and nucleic acids (lipids are not included)

polymer

a long molecule consisting of many similar or identical building blocks linked by covalent bonds

monomers

the smaller molecular repeating units that serve as the building blocks of a polymer

condensation reaction

the name of the reaction which connects monomers in a covalent bond through the loss of a water molecule
