tricuspid valve Located between right atrium and right ventricle.
bicuspid (mitral) valve Located between left atrium and left ventricle.
pulmonary semilunar valve Located between right ventricle and pulmonary artery.
aortic semilunar valve Located between left ventricle and the aorta.
valves Structures inside the heart that prevent the back flow of blood.
myocardium Muscular layer of heart.
pericardium Double layered membrane or sac that covers the outside of the heart.
endocardium The smooth layer of cells that lines the inside of the heart.
septum A muscular wall that separates the heart into a right and left side.
apex The tip of the heart that lies on the diaphragm and points to the left side of the body.
coronary arteries Vessels that are located on the outer surface of the heart to provide its oxygen.
pericardial fluid Fluid that prevents friction between the layers of the pericaridum.
