### compatible numbers

Numbers that are easy to compute mentally usually used to estimate quotients.

To find the nearest value of a number based on a given plase value.

A number that is raised to a given exponent.

### composite number

A whole number greater than 1 that has more than 2 factors.

### cube number

The product of a whole number used as a factor 3 times.

### divisibility

A whole number is divisible by a second whole number if the quotient does not result in a remainder.

### exponent

A number that tells how many times a based is used as a factor.

### exonential notation

A nmber that is written with a whole number factor multiplied by a power of ten.

### factor

A whole number is a factor of a second wole number if the second whole number is divisible by the first.

### factor tree

A diagram that can be used to express a composite number as a product of its prime factors.

### multiple

The product of a whole number and any ofher whole numer.

### power

Another word for exponent.

### prime factorization

A whole number expressed as the preduct of its prime factors.

### prime number

A whole number than 1 that has only 1 and itself as factors.

### square number

A whole number that is the product of two identical factors.
